Theodore Haats Feb. 28, 1925 - Oct. 14, 2013

RAYMOND - Theodore Haats, 88, of Raymond, died Monday, October 14th at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. His funeral will be 2:00 pm, Friday, October 18th at Raymond United Methodist Church in Raymond. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #167 of Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Ted was born on February 28, 1925, in Lone Tree Township, near Clara City, Minnesota, the son of Theodore Sr. and Adelaide (Ennenga) Haats. When Ted was about 6 years old, the family moved towards Raymond where he lived his entire life except while serving in the Army from 1943 1946, during WW II.

On April 25, 1946, Ted was united in marriage to Christine Huisenga. He worked as a truck driver for Gunter Elevator, Duininck and Farm Service Elevator, retiring in 1988. Following his retirement, he continued to drive truck, hauling beets for his son-in-law, Doug Hultgren until 1999.

If you ever drove by their home, you would notice that Ted really enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He treasured family gatherings and always tried to make everyone happy. He could always be seen playing, teasing, and being silly with the grandkids whenever they were around.

Surviving are his wife, Christine of Raymond; children, Cheryle (Chic) Bredeson of Willmar; Timothy and (and Char) Haats of Raymond; Shannon (and Vern Jr.) Hultgren-Loch of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Jason (and Brenda) Bredeson, Marcy (and Stacy) Sweep, Joshua Bredeson, Troy Haats, Brandon Haats, Rachel (Jeremy Marcus) Hultgren, Bethany (and Eric) Stevermer and Gina Hultgren; nine great grandchildren and one great, great, grandson, Logan Olson. Also surviving are his sisters, Alice Huisenga of Raymond and Adeline (and Orville) Klemmenhagen of Willmar; sisters-in-law, Muriel Haats of Clara City; Gertrude Haats of Raymond and Myrtle Haats of Texas

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Justin Bredeson; son-in-law, Douglas Hultgren and siblings, John, Edward, Albert, Dick, Alvin, Tillie Freese and Katie Hoppe.
