Thieves take $20K in saddles, tack in Meeker Co., sheriff seeks info
LITCHFIELD -- Anyone with information about the theft of more than $20,000 in saddles and other horse riding equipment in Greenleaf Township is encouraged to call the Meeker County Sheriff's Office at (320) 693-5400 or 1-866-333-3366.
According to Sheriff Jeff Norlin, his office was called on Sunday to investigate a burglary along State Highway 22. Someone had forced entry into a locked building and horse trailers and took multiple horse saddles and equipment. Several of the saddles were handmade or modified. One saddle was a one of a kind show saddle, with an estimated value of over $4,000, with a pink alligator skin seat and multiple rhinestones. A vehicle towing a trailer was used in the commission of this crime. Ten horses were on the property during this crime, including four horses that were in the locked building that the suspect(s) forced entry to. None of the horses were taken or harmed.
