Three to be crowned county dairy princesses Saturday in Willmar, Minn.
WILLMAR -- Three young women will be crowned as the 2012 Kandiyohi County Dairy Princesses at the annual Kandiyohi County Dairy Princess Banquet and Coronation at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kandi Entertainment Center in Willmar.
Jessica Gatewood, Brielle Hauge and Johanna Johnson will represent the dairy industry during many public appearances throughout the upcoming year. The 2011 Dairy Princesses were Julie Gatewood and Brenda Hinseth.
Jessica Gatewood, 22, is the daughter of Gene and Shelly Gatewood of Willmar. Jessica is a 2008 graduate of Willmar Senior High School. Her family farms 350 acres and milks 63 Holstein cows.
Brielle Hauge, 17, is the daughter of Philip and Shereen Hauge of Sunburg. They milk 40 cows and farm 280 acres of land south of Sunburg. She is a senior at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School and has been a dairy ambassador for four years.
Johanna Johnson, 17, is the daughter of Warren and Stacy Johnson of rural Pennock. They have a family farm with 60 registered Holsteins and 650 acres of cropland where they grow corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Johnson is a senior at KMS High School, serves as a dairy ambassador, works on the farm and also is employed by Sophie's Ice Cream Shop in Kerkhoven and as a personal care attendant.
Banquet tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available from the current dairy princesses, the princess candidates, and the Kandiyohi County Dairy Association board of directors. Banquet information is available from Shereen Hauge at 320-599-4483.
