Tractor, feed wagon lost in Meeker County, Minn., fire

DASSEL — A John Deere tractor, feed mixing wagon and about 100 round bales of cornstalks were lost in a fire reported around 9 a.m. Monday north of Dassel.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, a neighbor reported the fire at the Grant Mcdonalds property at 72391 255th St. in Dassel Township when he saw smoke coming from the location.

Fire departments from Dassel and Cokato were dispatched to the blaze. Mcdonalds, 33, of Cokato, also responded to the location.

The tractor, a John Deere 6310 with a loader and cab, and the bales were a total loss. The wagon sustained substantial damage. The fire appeared to start near the tractor’s engine compartment and the machine was plugged into an electrical outlet to keep the engine warm. The estimated loss is $87,000.
