Tritown nips Willmar on Martin hit in seventh
ATWATER -- Vance Martin drove in Jordan Tanner with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday, giving Tritown a 5-4 win over Willmar in Legion baseball action.
Martin went the distance for Tritown, surrendering only six hits and five walks, while striking out eight. Only three of Willmar's runs were earned.
Martin also hit a double and drove in another run earlier in the game.
Tanner had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Tritown. Travis Frederiksen also slapped two of Tritown's seven hits.
Alec Saunders started for Willmar and surrendered three earned runs in four innings of work. He also struck out two and walked one. John Sawatzky went 2-for-4 and pitched the final 2Zc innings for Willmar. He struck out two, walked two, and surrendered the game-winning run.
Justin Hamann drove in three of Willmar's four runs.
