Troops returning Friday and Saturday

ST. PAUL -- More than 550 soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery will be returning home on Friday and Saturday, according to the Minnesota National Guard in St. Paul.

The units based in Olivia, Madison, and Marshall are expected to return on Friday, while the headquarters and headquarters battery in Montevideo, and Appleton, Morris and Ortonville units are expected on Saturday.

The schedule for Friday:

Olivia B Battery, 56 soldiers

10:30 a.m. at the BOLD High School in Olivia. Everyone is welcome to line the streets in Olivia beginning around 10 a.m. to welcome them on their way to the school. They are expected to arrive on U.S. Highway 212 and proceed on Ninth Street to the school.

Madison, B Battery, 55 soldiers

12 p.m. Madison Elementary School

Marshall, A Battery, 105 soldiers

2 p.m. Marshall Armory

The schedule for Saturday:

Morris, C Battery

11:45 a.m. National Guard Armory in Morris for private meeting with family members

2:15 p.m. public program at the University of Minnesota physical education center.

Montevideo, Appleton, Ortonville

Soldiers from C Battery in Ortonville, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery in Montevideo and the 175th Forward Support Company in Appleton are scheduled to arrive on Saturday, but the times and locations were not yet available.

The West Central Tribune will announce the times and dates as soon as available.
