Twin Cities attempted murder suspect arrested in Benson, Minn.
BENSON -- A man wanted for an attempted murder in Spring Lake Park was arrested without incident early Saturday morning in Benson.
According to a news release from Benson Police Chief Mike Jambor, his department received information on Friday that Pierre Tyshaun Henderson, 19, and his brother, Derrick Deangalo Catchings, were located by tracing a cell phone signal to a Benson apartment complex.
The Anoka County Sheriff's office also informed Benson Police that Henderson allegedly wanted to get into a shoot-out with law enforcement if he was confronted. Anonymous information also included that Henderson had three pistols in his possession.
Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Anoka County Sheriff's office came to Benson and with the assistance of the Benson Police Department, the Swift County Sheriff's office, the Kandiyohi County SWAT team and the West Central Tactical Team, secured the area near the residence.
A search warrant was executed on two apartments and Henderson was arrested without incident. Also assisting in the execution were officers from the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Minnesota State Patrol.
According to information from the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Henderson was charged in Anoka County District Court last week for an Aug. 19 shooting at the Hy-Way House Motel in Spring Lake Park. He faces two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault.
Henderson allegedly shot Marcus Allen Wayne Hallmark, 20, of Fridley in the abdomen. Hallmark was treated at Hennepin County Medical Center and is expected to recover.
