The first report of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden was a simple tweet: A”helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event), wrote Sohaib Athar @Reality Virtual.

Now Twitter is a major communication force in the world. It is considered a necessity by celebrities, professional athletes, politicians and ordinary citizens in communicating and share information and opinions with their followers.

More than 200 million people around the world actively connect through Twitter.com, but there are still many who may not know what the micro-blogging network even is.

Yet Twitter is now celebrating its eighth anniversary.

On March 21, 2006, Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey simple typed ‘Just setting up my twtr,” according to a USA Today report.

That was the first tweet ever.

The social media network is helping its users now find their very first tweet on the microblogging platform. Millions of tweeps (Twitter users) will use the hashtag #FirstTweet as they re-share their very first tweet.

Just search the hashtags #NDSU, #Mercer or #Dayton to read fans celebrating their teams upset wins Thursday in the NCAA’s March Madness tournament.

The network celebrated a bit early in November when the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange with the biggest technology stock launch since Facebook’s offering in 2012.

Twitter has now become an essential communication tool for the masses and a place to learn through the millions of prolific tweeters across the globe.

We have become a Twitter world.
