National Guard soldiers returning to Willmar on Saturday after 10-month deployment

Two injured in Meeker County accident south of Litchfield

LITCHFIELD – Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident reported at 6:09 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of 624th Avenue and County State Aid Highway 28 south of Litchfield in Greenleaf Township of Meeker County.

                Todd Smith Jr., 28, of Grove City, was airlifted by Life Link helicopter to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Ashlley Ramthun, 22, of Litchfield, was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to the Meeker County Hospital in Litchfield, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.

                Smith was driving a 1999 Mazda Protégé southbound on 615th Avenue when his vehicle ran a stop sign and rolled in the southwest field.

                The Meeker County Sheriff’s office, Minnesota State Patrol, Litchfield, Fire Department, Litchfield Rescue, Gold Cross Ambualnce and Life Link Helicopter responded. The accident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Department.
