Two men face slew of charges after shotgun incident at Spicer, Minn., home

WILLMAR — Alan Tod Zuroff, 27, of Spicer, and Anthony Michael Sharp, 29, of Lake Lillian, made their first court appearances Monday on first-degree burglary charges for allegedly entering a rural Spicer residence with a shotgun early Saturday.
Unconditional bail was set at $25,000. Both men are to appear for their next hearing Feb. 11 in Kandiyohi County District Court.
Zuroff also faces an additional felony charge of second-degree assault and Sharp faces a felony fifth-degree drug possession count. Both men face a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of a pistol or assault weapon by a user of controlled substance.
According to the complaints, Kandiyohi County sheriff’s deputies were called around 3:30 a.m. Saturday regarding a burglary in progress at a Spicer residence. A man there reported that Zuroff and Sharp had entered the residence without being invited, with Zuroff holding a shotgun and racking the weapon while calling for the man to come out of a bedroom and face them. Zuroff and the man had previously had an altercation over the theft of some tools.
The man, and several others who had been in the home at the time of the incident, reported that Zuroff and Sharp then left the residence. Another man left with them.
Later on Saturday, around 9 p.m., deputies located a vehicle near New London and arrested both men. The officers located a long gun case, with a 12-gauge pump shotgun, with three shells in the weapon, but not in the chamber. Sharp had methamphetamine in his possession and both men allegedly admitted to using meth earlier in the day.
During his interview with officers, Sharp allegedly said both men were high on meth and went to the home to pick up the man who left with them from the residence, that they had a gun with them and that Zuroff brought the gun into the house.
