Two men found dead in boat on Lake of the Woods, third man hospitalized
WILLIAMS, Minn. -- Authorities are investigating the deaths of two men who were found in a boat on Lake of the Woods late Sunday night.
The incident was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday near Birch Beach, north of Williams, according to the Lake of the Woods Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities discovered the bodies of two men, ages 44 and 35.
A third victim, a 43-year-old man, was transported by Lake of the Woods Ambulance to LakeWood Health Center in Baudette.
The names of the victims have not been released.
The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the sheriff’s department.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
No other information was immediately available from police.
However, a report from PageOne Publications and the Northern Light newspaper in Baudette indicated the men were aboard a 25-foot Baja Cruisers boat that apparently floated to shore. Eyewitness accounts indicate the cover was off the engine compartment when it came to shore.
