Two people were shot late Saturday in Grand Rapids and a third person is in custody, police said this morning.
The victims, an adult male and an adult female, were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, officials said. The names of the victims, and further updates on their condition, were not immediately available. The name of the 26-year-old male suspect also has not yet ben released, officials said, because of the ongoing investigation.
According to a news release from the Grand Rapids Police Department, officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday to the report of the shooting in the 500 block of 10th Avenue NW. That's near Blandin Beach on the city's west side.
The suspect is being held at the Itasca County Jail awaiting formal charges. No additional information has been released; officials said an update is planned for later today.
