Two-vehicle crash Sunday near Nest Lake Bridge sends three to hospital
SPICER -- A two-vehicle collision near the Nest Lake Bridge in Kandiyohi County sent three people to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at 1:17 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Robert Hopkins, 77, of Lake View, Iowa was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup. The vehicle was facing west on Kandiyohi County Road 30 at the stop sign when it pulled out to cross Minnesota Highway 23.
A north-bound Suzuki SUV driven by Claudia Becerra, 29, of Granite Falls, struck the left rear of the Dodge pickup.
The New London Ambulance transported Hopkins and the Willmar Ambulance transported Berreca to Rice Memorial Hospital. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A passenger in the Suzuki, Angelo Gomez, a juvenile, was also transported by Willmar Ambulance to Rice Memorial for non-life threatening injuries.
A child in the Suzuki in a car seat in the rear was not injured. A passenger in the front of the Suzuki also escaped injury.
Drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles.
