Two Willmar men die in crash west of New London

NEW LONDON -- Two Willmar men were killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon west of New London.

David Arroyo-Morales, 28, and Alberto Arroyo-Morales, 29, both of Willmar, died at the scene of the crash at the intersection of Kandiyohi County Road 40 and County Road 5. They had been traveling in a 2001 Ford sedan.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet pickup, were injured and taken to hospitals.

The passenger, Jon Michael Swanson, 38, of Pennock, was transported by helicopter from the crash scene to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday evening.

The driver, Timothy James Swanson, 31, of Svea, was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar by ambulance. He was treated and released from the emergency department.

According to a report from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, the crash was reported at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

No other details about the crash were released over the weekend.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Willmar Ambulance, Sunburg Ambulance, New London Ambulance, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and New London Fire Department.
