Update 10 a.m.: Most schools in west central Minnesota closed for the day

Many schools in the region have closed this morning due to the weather, while some have maintained their two-hour late starts.

Blowing snow and bitter cold have made for treacherous travel in open areas. A wind chill advisory is in effect for west central Minnesota. Wind chills are expected to fall as far as 35 below tonight.

According to media websites, schools that have closed include BOLD, Clarkfield, Dawson-Boyd, Montevideo, Paynesville, New London-Spicer, Redwood Valley, Renville County West, Willmar, Community Christian School in Willmar, and Yellow Medicine East.

Schools still scheduled to start two hours late include Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Benson, Hancock, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Litchfield and Minnewaska.
