Update: One killed and one injured in Pope County accident

GLENWOOD – One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle accident this morning near Glenwood.

The State Patrol says Haley Klimek, 19, of Lowry was injured when the 2005 Chevy Silverado she was driving collided with a 2013 Nissan Maxima in a broadside-type accident at the intersection of state Highway 29 and Pope County Road 28, north of Glenwood.

Klimek was taken to the Glenwood Hospital with minor injuries.

The identity of the other driver, who was killed in the accident, is not expected to be released until Tuesday morning.

According to the accident report from the State Patrol, Klimek was going east on Pope County Road 28 and struck the second vehicle, which was going north on Highway 29.

The accident was reported at 7:45 a.m.

Roads were wet at the time of the incident and there was fog in much of the region this morning.

The Pope County Sheriff’s office assisted at the scene.
