U.S. Highway 12 resurfacing begins Monday
WILLMAR -- Motorists will encounter delays and a brief detour on Monday when a contractor begins a resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 12 from Sixth Street East to 24th Street East in Willmar.
Flagging operations will direct traffic through the work zone.
A brief detour will be in effect May 11 through May 14 as loop detectors are installed for the signal system at the junction of Highway 12 and Lakeland Drive.
Highway 12 traffic will be detoured to Litchfield Avenue, then back to Highway 12. Traffic on Lakeland Drive will be detoured west on Becker Avenue, north on 13th Street to Litchfield Avenue, to Lakeland Drive.
The project is expected to be completed by May 23, weather permitting.
The project will provide a smoother ride for motorists, said Diane Beck, public affairs coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 8 office in Willmar.
Beck reminds motorists to drive with extreme caution through the work zones and watch for workers and equipment.
