WILLMAR -- Motorists will be able to drive along U.S. Highway 75 near Dawson beginning Friday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The detour is being removed as construction along the U.S. Highway 212 corridor between Dawson and Montevideo nears completion.
The remaining construction will be completed over the next two weeks and the highway will open in two different phases, weather permitting. U.S. Highway 212 from Dawson to Highway 75 will open between Sept. 5 and 7; Highway 212 from Montevideo to Lac qui Parle County Road 35 will open the following week, between Sept. 10 and 14.
Duininck Inc. was the prime contractor for the projects, which began in May. Work included grading, paving the road, installing pedestrian accessible ramps and improving traffic signals.
