Van, trailer collision leaves one dead

The driver of a van died Thursday when his vehicle collided with a trailer attached to a truck on State Highway 4 in Meeker County, south of Grove City, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

The name the driver of the van was not available at press time.

A 2008 Chrysler Town and Country van was northbound at about 4:30 p.m. on Highway 4 when it crashed into a Fell trailer attached to a 2006 Chevorlet Silverado that was parked in the southbound shoulder facing north cleaning up construction items.

The Silverado had amber warning lights activated. The truck's driver, Jason D. Ellering , 26, of St. Cloud, and passenger, Michael D. Walz, 29, of St. Cloud, were outside of the vehicle at the time of the crash and were not injured. The driver of the van was dead at the scene.
