LITCHFIELD -- Vera Elaine Johnson, 71, of Litchfield, died Saturday.
The service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at church.
She was born Aug. 29, 1937, in Mankato to Donald and Martha (Meinhold) North. They lived in Vernon Center until the family moved to Grove City when she was 10 years old. She attended Country School No. 36 through the seventh grade, then went to Grove City High School, graduating in 1955. She worked for Northwestern National Bank for two and a half years.
On June 16, 1957, she married Dean Johnson. They lived on a farm near Towers Lake until 1964. They lived briefly near Litchfield before moving to Greenleaf in 1965. She began working again for Northwestern Bank in 1965 for the next 22 years. She also worked at Augustana Homes for 11 years, retiring in 2003.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Home Extension Club.
She is survived by her husband; her mother; children: Keith (and Connie) Johnson of Litchfield, Kevin (and Brenda) Johnson of Pleasant Hill, Ore., Nadine (and Rusty) Twardy of Litchfield, Kraig (and Jody) Johnson of Pillager, and Sherri (and Mike) Barnes of Coon Rapids; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Darlene Holmberg of Grove City, Dwayne (and Brigid) North of Burnsville and Donna (and Jim) Caron.
She was preceded in death by her father.
