Vera Marie Jones July 16. 1921 - Jan. 28, 2009
MORRIS -- Vera Marie Jones, 87, of Morris died Wednesday at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Federated Church in Morris. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service at 4 p.m., at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 16, 1921, in Keystone, Neb., to William and Cora (Swett) Severns. She grew up in Encampment, Wyo., where she received her education.
On July 25, 1938, she married Rossiter Jones in Walden, Colo. They lived in Nebraska, Wyoming and South Dakota prior to making their home in Morris. Vera was a homemaker. She had lived at West Wind Village in Morris since January 2008.
She was a member of Federated Lutheran Church in Morris. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years, serving as treasurer and past worthy matron.
She is survived by three children: Craig (and Laura) Jones of Cottonwood, Shane (and Ruth) Jones of Morris and Julie (and Rick) Gramm of Hancock; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Verna Mae Hammer of Lander, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; one son: Edward Jones in 1979; one daughter: Kathy Evenson in 1969; five brothers and five sisters.
