GLENWOOD -- Vera Winifred Griesert, 82, of Glenwood, died Wednesday at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

She was born April 16, 1926, in Balton to David and Emily (Rudebeck) Anderson. She grew up on a farm near Balton.

On April 30, 1944, she married Elmer A. Griesert in Hondo, Texas, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. In 1947, they moved to Glenwood. She was a homemaker. After Elmer died in April 1988, Vera married Robert Bresemen on April 25, 1992. They divorced in June 2008. She moved on Dec. 1 to Bethel Manor in Alexandria.

She was a longtime member of Glenwood Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children: Richard Griesert of Vicksburg, Mich., Brian (and Deb) Griesert of Osakis, Elaine (and Stan) Karste of Glenwood, Debra (and David) Carbone of Glenwood, and Lisa (and Jonathan) Rosenberg of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six sisters: Rose Brunson of Everett, Jean Griesert of Parkers Prairie, Phyllis Drum of Deer Creek, Dorothy Foner of Glenwood, Shirley Jacobs of Kensington, and Darlene "Susie" Stevens of Two Harbors; and a brother: Kenneth Anderson of Lake Stevens, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; a son-in-law: Craig Boelke; four brothers; and one sister.
