Vernon Ness May 7, 1914 - Nov. 14, 2009
DAWSON -- Vernon Selmer Ness, 95, of Dawson died Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Providence Valley Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
He was born May 7, 1914, in Dawson to August and Emma (Pederson) Ness. He attended Windy Hill School.
He married Selma Haukos on March 6, 1938, in Beardsley. He was a farmer in the Providence area his whole life. He was a member of Providence Valley Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; children: Vernetta (and Thomas) Hiatt of Roswell, N.M., Curtis (and Cheryl) Ness of Brookings, S.D., Douglas (and Marjorie) Ness of Nampa, Idaho, and Rebecca (and Daryl) Schutte of Dawson; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother: Myron (and Lillian) Ness of rural Dawson.
He was preceded in death by son: Linnae in 1986; one grandson; and three brothers.
