VFW Baseball: Willmar I pounds Madison
Willmar erupted for four runs in the second, five runs in the fourth, and went on to shutout Madison 10-0.
Adam Nibaur got the win for Willmar, going five innings, giving up only two hits, one walk, and struck out five. Tyler Stegeman, Tony McCleary, Nibaur, Trey Tollefson, and Zach Horman all had runs batted in for Willmar. Nibaur went two for two with a double and five RBIs.
Nesvold, Hill, and Mortenson all had hits for Madison. Nesvold took the loss for Madison, pitching three innings, giving up two hits, six runs, five walks while striking out three.
Willmar I is 4-0 in the district, and 6-4 overall. Willmar will play the winner of the Hutchinson-Paynesville game, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

New London-Spicer's VFW team got off to a great start with a five-run first inning and they kept the offense rolling in an opening-round win over Willmar II in the Willmar VFW Tournament on Friday in Spicer.
NLS' Trey Austvold and two hits, including a double, and scored two runs, and Dalton Kampsen was 2-for-3 with a double and he scored once.
Jarrett Hatlestad pitched six innings and struck out nine for the win.
Willmar's Noah Vreeman was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored once.
