VFW baseball: Willmar I's Radermacher one-hits Monte
WILLMAR — Zach Radermacher threw a one-hitter and the Willmar VFW I team downed Montevideo 11-1 in five innings on Friday at Swansson Orange.
Radermacher hit a batter and allowed Monte’s only hit to Zach Enevoldson in the fourth inning, with Christian Kanten scoring on Ross Echoff’s sacrifice bunt. Radermacher struck out six.
Willmar I, now 5-1 in the league and 9-3 overall, plays Starbuck on Tuesday at Swansson Orange.
Willmar’s Josh Tinklenberg was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs and Zach Horman was 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice.
Brett Swanson had two hits and scored twice, Isaac Kobenia doubled in two runs in the third inning and he also scored. Nate Ackerman had a hit and drove in two runs.
Austin Smith, Jacob Robinson and Cole Christensen also had hits and drove in runs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Tom Molenaar — who was hit by pitches twice and scored both times — was plunked to open the inning, moved up on Radermacher’s single and Smith’s fielder’s choice, and he scored on a Horman single to end the game by the 10-run rule.
