Vickie Skalbeck March 16, 1955 - Nov. 15, 2009
SACRED HEART -- Vickie Sue Skalbeck, 54, of Sacred Heart, died Sunday at the Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Sacred Heart. Memorials are preferred to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 E. 56th St., New York, NY 10022.
She was born March 16, 1955, in Aledo, Ill., to Raymond Monroe and Florence Mae (Haptonstall) Sizemore. She graduated in 1974 from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Texas.
She married and moved in 1974 to Renville, where she was a homemaker. She later worked as a real estate agent with Century 21 in Willmar, worked for Duininck Brothers Construction Company, and worked from 1991 to 1996 for Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel as a special events coordinator. She most recently worked for Renville County West and Yellow Medicine East schools as an aide for the ELS program.
She married Scott Skalbeck of Sacred Heart in 1995, and they have resided west of Sacred Heart for the past 14 years.
She was a member of Renville Jaycees and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville and has been a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church since 1995.
She is survived by her husband; her children: Nathan (and Angel) Polfliet of Volga, S.D., Deana Polfliet of Minneapolis and Lindsey Polfliet of Sacred Heart; four grandchildren; and her siblings: Rick (and Shirley) Sizemore of Cassville, Mo., Sandy (and Mike) Blank of Rockport, Texas, Barb (and Sam) Gray of McAllen, Texas, Terri (and Bill) Clesson of Bloomington, Ill., Kathy (and John) Henry of Drexel, Mo., and Kevin (and Diane) Sizemore of Pulaski, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
