BROOTEN -- Victoria Lee Walsh, 56, of rural Brooten, died Wednesday at her home. She had suffered from cancer.

The service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.

She was born Nov. 4, 1952, in St. Peter to Bennie Eugene and Betty (Lipsey) Brue. She grew up in the Twin Cities and graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1970.

She married Thomas Walsh on May 25, 1984, in Minneapolis. They lived in south Minneapolis for many years. She worked for the Star Tribune newspaper from 1978 until 1989. They moved to a farm near Brooten in 1997. She worked for Bakko Brothers farm for three years.

She volunteered with Brooten Boy Scout Troop 66.

She is survived by her husband; two sons: Michael (and Shannon) Walsh of Brooten and Chris (and Shelly) Walsh of Thompson, N.D.; three daughters: Teresa (and Dave) Brend of Thompson, N.D., Kelly (and Rob) Nichols of Coon Rapids and Samantha Walsh of Glenwood; seven grandchildren; and a brother: Richard (and Marcy) Brue of Maple Grove.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
