Viking's Berrian apologizes to state lawmaker
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian is apologizing to a fan who happens to be a state lawmaker and supporter of a new stadium, after criticizing him on Twitter.
Rep. John Kriesel was tweeting after the team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He linked to Berrian's Twitter account and seemed to ridicule the player's comment that he's open a lot and should get the ball more.
Berrian shot back with an offer to watch game tapes with Kriesel. He then added, "sit down n shut up." The Cottage Grove Republican is an Iraq veteran who lost his legs in action.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says Monday that Berrian called Kriesel to apologize. Frazier says the team's focus should be on winning games.
