Vikings stadium bill not likely ready by today's deadline

ST. PAUL -- A tentative plan to finalize remaining details of a Vikings stadium bill by the end of this week appears to be passing without resolution.

The Star Tribune reports that key negotiators say there's still no agreement on how to plug a financing hole of up to $131 million for road upgrades around the site of the proposed $1 billion stadium in suburban Arden Hills.

But the deadline may not end up mattering. It was made under the assumption that Gov. Mark Dayton would call lawmakers back into special session before the end of June to finish the state budget, but that appears increasingly unlikely.

Stadium backers say they'll keep negotiating in hopes of having a bill ready for a special session later in the summer.
