Vila Baker-Berg May 30, 1913 - Aug. 12, 2009
WILLMAR -- Vila Baker-Berg, 96, of Willmar died Wednesday at Bethesda Heritage in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Assembly of God in Willmar. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born May 30, 1913, in Swea City, Iowa, to William and Bessie (Valentine) Krueger. She grew up west of Willmar and attended District 80 in Priam and then Willmar High School.
She married Charles F. Baker on June 4, 1931. He died in 1981. She was a charter member of the Willmar Assembly of God where she sang in the choir and taught vacation Bible school. She worked two years at the Willmar Cookie Company and then at the Regional Treatment Center for 23 years, retiring in 1978. She was her mother's caregiver from 1960 until she died in 1990 at the age of 103.
She was married Oswald Berg on Feb. 10, 1990 and he died in 1992.
She is survived by four sons: Chuck (and Georgia) of Willmar, Sherlan (and Sharon) of Willmar, Phillip (and Joanne) of Minneapolis and Daniel (and Diane) of Memphis, Tenn.; siblings: Opal Gruetzmacher of Willmar, Delores Werner, Betty Schulze of Minneapolis and Veryl Krueger of Pueblo, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and step-daughter: Shirley (and Gordon) Berg of Willmar.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; a 13-year old son: Delbert Baker in 1950; two sisters; and five brothers.
