BIG BEND -- Virgil Harris Larson, 81, of the Hagen/Big Bend area, died Friday at St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, to Elroy and Ida (Lea) Larson. He attended county school at District 35.
He married Mavis Lein on May 7, 1949, in Watson. They lived in rural Watson for five years before moving to Hagen in 1954. He was involved with Larson Gravel Co. since the early 1940s which he formed with his father and brother. In later years, he was joined by a nephew and one son. He has continued washing and screening gravel with his son. He was a member of the Big Bend Lutheran Church.
He is survived by children: Larry Larson of Milan, Linda (and Tim) Haugen of Elm Springs, S.D., Lois (and Randy) Doring of Champlin; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Elaine Bergo of Montevideo and June (and Bernie) Knutson of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2006 and one brother.
