KANDIYOHI -- Virgil Willard Pladsen, 82, of Kandiyohi, died Friday at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Private burial was at Green Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church or the Sons of Norway.
He was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Green Lake Township, Kandiyohi County, to Ole and Esther (Anderson) Pladsen. He grew up in the area and attended country school.
He married Marian Dryden on May 1, 1959, in Willmar. They lived on his family farm which he farmed all of his life. He served on the Kandiyohi School Board, the Kandiyohi Co-op Creamery Board, the Kandiyohi Elevator Board, the Green Lake Cemetery Board and was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Kandiyohi County Historical Society. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee and deacon, was on the organ selection committee and various other committees.
He is survived by his wife; and son: Scott (and Kay) Pladsen of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Colleen Pladsen; and four sisters.
