Virgil Van Dale

DAWSON -- Virgil Cyril Van Dale, 90, formerly of Dawson, died Friday at the Appleton Nursing Home in Appleton.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery in rural Dawson.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home of Dawson.
He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Ghent to Adolph and Dora (Sanders) Van Dale. He attended country school through the eighth grade in rural Minneota and then graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris.
He married Annie DeMartelare in 1940 in Ghent. He farmed in the Minneota area, and then worked construction, on a mink farm and at Marshall Produce in Marshall. In 1979, he moved with his mother to Dawson, living with her until she moved to the Johnson Memorial Home. He lived in Parkview Apartments in Dawson until his health led him to move to the Appleton Nursing Home in July of 2006.
He is survived by his daughter: Patty (and Alan) Walgrave of Madison; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
