Lakeland, FL - Virginia Colmerry Knudsen, died September 24, 2013, at the Florida Presbyterian Home, at the age of 98. Virginia was born in Paris, France, on April 22, 1915. At the age of 10 she moved to Costa Rica, living also in Panama & Minnesota, with her final move in 1993 to Lakeland, Florida. She lived at the Florida Presbyterian Home since 1996.

She was preceded in death by Charles L. Neal, father of 4 children and Eugene P. Knudsen, former Minnesota State Senator and father of 8 children. Also preceding her in death is the still born daughter of Melvin & Barb Knudsen and Tammi Johnson, daughter of Peggy & Jim Johnson.

Virginia Knudsen was trained as a nurse and worked while raising her family. She has been a member of the Presbyterian & Lutheran Church's. Virginia is survived by her four children, Bruce Neal of SD, Ken (Martha) Neal of Lakeland, FL; (Margaret) Peggy (Jim) Johnson of Downsville, LA; Joyce (Jerome) Hoffer of Willmar; 8 step children, Marvis (Bill) Hallberg of Willmar; Audrey (Terry) Thompson of Atwater; Norman (Klidoris) Knudsen of Edina; Melvin (Barb) Knudsen of Watkins; Wayne (Kay) Knudsen of Vesta; Carol (Dave) Knudsen-Hendrickson of River Falls, WI; Larry (Deb) Knudsen of Spicer and Darlene Knudsen of Bemidji. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

One of her greatest accomplishments was learning to use a computer and writing her autobiography, from France to Florida and in between, at the age of 86.

She was an avid reader, having read thousands of books during her lifetime. She loved all of her family and prayed for them every evening.

A memorial service will be held at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Kandiyohi, MN, Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
