NEW LONDON -- Ashley Lensing pounded down 13 kills, Tiffany Gruber piled up eight ace blocks and April Hanson served seven aces to help top seed Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa beat Eden Valley-Watkins 26-24, 25-8, 20-25, 25-19 in the Section 6AA-North semifinals Tuesday at the New London-Spicer high school.

BBE (26-2) now takes on No. 2 Sauk Centre (20-8) in the sub-section final Thursday at 7 p.m. in Albany. Sauk Centre beat No. 3 Albany 25-15, 24-26, 25-23, 26-24 Tuesday.

The eight points allowed in the second game was the fewest BBE surrendered in the playoffs.

Gruber followed close behind Lensing, who also had four ace blocks, in the hitting department by piling up 12 kills. Katie Gruber amassed six kills and April Hansen had five more for the Jaguars, who are looking for their first state tournament appearance since the three towns consolidated.
