CMCS and Buffalo Lake-Hector will meet at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Martin Luther College in New Ulm.

CMCS 3, KMS 1

No. 4 seed Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (17-11) took the first game from the top seed, but Central Minnesota Christian (24-5) took the next three.

"We stepped up our block after the first game," said CMCS coach Traci Grussing. "They really blocked us well and we had to adjust to that."

Hillary Slagter had 13 kills and three ace blocks for the Bluejays. Beth Bulthuis added nine kills and seven ace blocks, and Kresson Vreeman had eight to go along with 32 set assists.

"They maintained their focus," said KMS coach Shannon Schmidt on her team taking the opening game. "We had the lead in second game, too, and if we would have won that one the match could have gone either way. The momentum went CMCS' way and we couldn't get it back."

Kristi Steinhaus led a group of four players that had eight-or-more kills for KMS with 12. Patina Queenan followed with nine while Kelsey Jeseritz and Kari Henry each piled up eight.

Amber Johnson fed the Fighting Saints' offense with 30 assists and Steph Stassen led the attack at the net with three ace blocks.
