Montevideo, Yellow Medicine East, Benson and Lac qui Parle Valley all advanced to the Section 3AA-North volleyball semifinals Friday.

Yellow Medicine East and Lac qui Parle Valley meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Redwood Falls. Montevideo and Benson play at 7:30 p.m. All four teams play in the West Central South Conference.

Montevideo 3, BOLD 0

The Thunder Hawks (22-2-1) utilized a balanced hitting attack and nine ace blocks to sweep the Warriors (8-10).

Taylor Skoglund had eight kills, Karie Blommel seven and Brooke Tostad and Beka Schwendemann four each. Skoglund also had three ace blocks.

For BOLD, Carrie Hebrink and Sam Dooner had seven kills each.

The Sting dominated play, starting with 10 ace serves.

Yellow Medicine East ruled the net with Jamie Baker and Livi Jeseritz each getting 12 kills and Ann Jepson 11. Baker also had ace five blocks.

The Cardinals couldn't get through the YME blocks and a poor night on serve-receive made it hard for Redwood to ignite an offense.

Kayla Anderson's seven kills led the Cardinals. Molly Madsen had 13 digs.

Micaela Erickson's eight ace blocks and Alysse Molden's 14 kills helped lift Lac qui Parle Valley (10-13-3).

The Eagles also got four ace blocks from Tiffany Volk and eight kills from Andrea Rheingans.

Breenna Harris had 11 kills and Sara Beyer 10 to pace Morris. Kayla Taffe chalked up 30 set assists while Harris and Alissa Melberg had four ace blocks apiece.
