A variety of methods to control erosion are being tested at Neer Park in New London that could help determine best practices to use elsewhere in the state. About a dozen volunteers joined Mary Blickenderfer, from the University of Minnesota Extension, putting coco logs in place and planting native vegetation along the shore. Lakeshore around the park has had erosion issues for a number of years. Past efforts to stabilize the soil haven't done enough to improve the shoreline. Wednesday's work was part of a $25,000 erosion control project, funded primarily by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
