LITCHFIELD -- Walter August Kenneth Kuehl, Jr., 66, of Litchfield, died Tuesday at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Oct. 23, 1942, in Litchfield to Walter and Laura (Rosenow) Kuehl. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1960.
He married Donna Elstad on Nov. 2, 1963, in rural Meeker County. He was farmer and retired from farming in 1990. He worked at the Super Valu Store in Litchfield and in 1998 began working at The Market Place in Cokato. He was a member of Ostmark Lutheran Church, was part of the men's choir and the men's club and served on the church councils for St. Matthews United Church of Christ and Ostmark Lutheran Church. He served on the Cenex Co-op board, Litchfield Blues board, Forest City Creamery board and was the Forest City Township treasurer, a member of the Litchfield Male Chorus, Dragon Boosters and was involved with the Forest City Stockade. He was inducted into the Litchfield Blues Hall of Fame in 2004 and was recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer in 1976.
He is survived by his wife; children: Natalie (and Paul) Hare of St. Francis, Nathan (and Angela) Kuehl of Spring, Texas, Mark (and Tiffany) Kuehl of Plymouth, James (and Sarah) Kuehl of Otsego; 11 grandchildren; sisters: Ruth (and Bud) Marquardt of Litchfield, Dolores (and Wally) Willette of Litchfield, Alice (and Art) Reilein of Litchfield, Jeanette Byrne of Leesburg, Va., Diane (and Willard) Maahs of Litchfield and Bonnie Revering of Arizona.
