OLIVIA -- Walter Theodore Zenk, 92, of Olivia died Sunday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial with military rites will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Remsen, Iowa, to Casper and Anne (Lenertz) Zenk. He attended grade school at Remsen and high school at Spirit Lake, Iowa. The family later moved to Belgrade. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the air transport command in England from 1942 to 1945.
He married Phyllis Bakko on Jan. 15, 1955, in rural Wannamingo. They moved to Olivia and he worked as a mechanic for Duininck and Gilchrist and later owned and operated Zenk Equipment Service in Olivia, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Belgrade VFW, the Olivia Lions Club, and the Olivia American Legion and his church.
He is survived by his wife; children: Dan Zenk, of Minnetonka and Anne Marie Zenk of Redwood Falls; one grandson; one great-grandson; siblings: Clarence Zenk of Fairmont, Milton (and Adeline) Zenk, of Fairmont, Irvin (and Mary) Zenk of Albert Lea and Marian Campbell of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
