Warm the Children at just 64 percent of goal
WILLMAR — Contributions for the 2012 Warm the Children campaign are at about 64 percent of goal with just over one week to go until Christmas. Goal of this year’s drive is $40,000.
Last year, the Warm the Children campaign took in $37,305, falling just short of a goal of $40,000. The donations received helped to clothe 489 children throughout the area. Now in its 18th year, the Warm the Children campaign has helped more than 6,900 children from more than 2,530 families over the past 18 years.
All donations, 100 percent, go to help the children. The program is administered through the West Central Tribune, in partnership with Main Street Willmar, with assistance from area social service agencies and schools making referrals. The families are then taken shopping in order to purchase warm winter clothing for the children. Each child is allowed an estimated $80 in purchases.
A total of 372 donations have been received during the 2012 campaign. To date, donations total $25,554.
