Warm temperatures this week for west central Minnesota, but colder beginning Friday night

WILLMAR -- The weather is forecast to be downright balmy, by January standards, in the next few days, with Friday expected to be sunny with a high around 30.

Be prepared for Friday night, though, when winds are expected to come up and temperatures will drop. By Sunday, the National Weather Service is predicting a high around zero.

The Weather Service's forecasts for the Willmar area for the next few days:

Today: Scattered flurries. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 22. Wind chill values between zero and 10. South southwest wind between 6 and 9 mph.

Tonight: Scattered flurries before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3. Wind chill values between -9 and 1. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northwest.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. Wind chill values between -1 and -11. North northwest wind at 8 mph becoming southwest.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. West wind between 5 and 9 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 31.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy and blustery, with a low around 10.
