BELGRADE -- Warren Earl Benton, 73, of Belgrade died Saturday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. Burial will be at Solomon Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred.
He was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Garden Valley, N.D., to Earl and Jennie (Bo) Benton. He grew up and attended school in Minot and graduated, in 1955, from Sawyer, N.D.
On Aug. 24, 1958, he married Marlene Irwin.
He joined the National Guard as a junior in high school and served from 1954 to 1965. In 1956, he started working at Montana Dakota Utilities. He went from a meter reader to a town representative during his 28 years there. He was a self-taught engineer at Jennie-O, where he retired in 1997.
On Dec. 2, 1970, he married Mary Dokken.
Surviving are his wife; children: Wannetta Benton of Devils Lake, N.D., Justine (and Claire) Warner of Melbourne, Fla., Jon (and Dianne) Benton of Norwood-Young America, Jackie Benton (and special friend Jimmy Mitchell) of St. Cloud, Jenelle Benton (and special friend Chris Schulz) of Brooten, Jolene Holder of Rockledge, Fla., Jason (and Valerie) Benton of Hawick and Jelynda (and Gary) Solid of Eagle Bend; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and siblings, Eline (and Lannie) Kunkel of Minot, N.D., Vivian Brandwisch of Surrey, N.D., Lenore (and Lester) Zietz of Underwood, N.D., Perry (and Pattie) Benton of Minot, N.D., and Iris (and Jack) Galligan of Burtrum.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
