Warriors sink Western Wis. to go over .500

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater men's basketball team breached the .500 mark with a non-conference win over Western Wisconsin Tech, 77-51, Wednesday.

It took a few minutes for the Warriors (10-9) to get up to speed. The Cavaliers (14-8) grabbed a 10-2 lead, but Ridgewater fought back to go ahead 16-15 on a three-pointer by Nathan Nietfeld, his only one of the game.

Ridgewater finished the half with a 34-26 advantage.

The Warriors improved their offensive play in the second half, scoring 43 points. Tyler Stein scored all 10 of his points, including two 3-pointers, and Shawn Neu evenly split his six treys between the two halves. He ended the game with 18 points.

Ridgewater also excelled at cashing in on Western Wisconsin's mistakes, scoring 26 points on 17 turnovers.

Nietfeld scored 18 points and grabbed 10 points to lead the Warriors. Casey Sussenguth added 13 points and eight boards.

Nick Perkins scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers.
