Waska thumps Monte

MONTEVIDEO -- Minnewaska forward Emily Roering scored 21 points and helped the Lakers control the boards with her nine rebounds in a 59-43 victory at Montevideo on Thursday.

The game was back-and-forth the first 15 minutes when the Lakers went on a 5-0 run to end the first half with a 27-21 lead.

The 5-10 Roering, the West Central Conference South MVP as a junior, helped the Lakers to a 36-25 rebound advantage.

Cassie Jacobs added 14 points and Allie Ostrander eight, plus seven rebounds.

Brooke Tastad scored 14 points to lead Montevideo.
