BRANDON -- Wayne Thomas Zimmerman, 55, of Brandon, died Saturday.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Alexandria. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
He was born July 16, 1953, in Appleton to Delmar and Virginia (Schnitzler) Zimmerman. He attended school in Donnelly, Danvers and Crystal. His family moved to Morris in 1964, and he graduated from Morris High School in 1972.
On June 20, 1975, he married Kelly Bogenreif. He worked briefly for Hancock Concrete, West Central Steel and Michaelson's. Then he began his career at Westmor Industries, where he worked for approximately 30 years. Four years ago he started his own business, Wayne Zimmerman's Tree Moving.
On Oct. 6, 1995, he married Kathy Torstenson. In 1998, they moved to Brandon where they built a home on Big Chippewa Lake.
He was a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and Minnesota Snowmobile Association and for four years raced with car number 53 at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria.
He is survived by his wife; parents of Willmar; children: Nicole (and Jeff) Arensdorf of Wichita, Kan., Michael Zimmerman (and Erin Kram) of Alexandria and Randi (and Filo) Losalu of Cheyenne, Wyo.; stepson: Keyes (and Kristi) Burgess of Long Prairie; two stepgrandchildren; and sisters: Patricia (and Guy) Fernholz of DeGraff, Mary (and Todd) Huntstad of Willmar and Rose (and Brad) Serbus of Willmar.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
