A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for most of west central and southwest Minnesota.

Wind chill values between 20 and 30 below are being observed across portions of west central and southwest Minnesota this morning. Winds should gradually subside today and temperatures will warm slightly late this morning and thus warming the wind chill values.

A strong arctic cold front will move through the region on Thursday. This system is expected to bring dangerous wind chills of 25 below to 40 below zero to much of the region Thursday night and Friday morning.

There could also be areas of blowing or drifting snow in parts of western and southern Minnesota.

The forecast for the Willmar area is:

Tonight: Occasional flurries before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -11. Wind chill values between -14 and -19. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. West southwest wind between 3 and 5 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -3. Wind chill values between -9 and -15. West wind between 5 and 8 mph.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 2. Northwest wind between 8 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -18.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 1.

Friday Night: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -6.
