Update 9:45 a.m.: Weather Service issues small stream flood advisory for Pope, Kandiyohi, Meeker counties

WILLMAR -- The National Weather Service has issued a small stream flood advisory for eastern Pope County and northern Kandiyohi and Meeker counties until 11 this morning.

According to the NWS in Chanhassen, Doppler Radar indicated heavy rainfall, up to 2 inches per hour, from storms moving southeast at 30 mph.

The runoff from the rainfall will cause minor flooding along small streams and near low water crossings.

In addition, much of central and west central Minnesota, along with portions of southwest North Dakota and eastern South Dakota are in a severe thunderstorm watch area until noon today.

Finally, the NWS has issued a heat advisory for much of central and south central Minnesota from noon to 8 p.m. today. Very warm temperatures combined with high humidity levels will push heat indices up to 100 to 105 degrees this afternoon and evening.
