Weather Service warns of potential for minor flooding in west central Minnesota due to combination of rain, snowmelt

WILLMAR — The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a warning for the potential of minor flooding today and through the weekend in all of west central Minnesota.

The arrival of a warm front today will bring the potential for light rain through Saturday. The rainfall total isforecast not to exceed .25 inch in the Willmar area.

The warning noted that the combination of runoff from snow melt and the rainfall could cause minor flooding along rivers, streams and creeks.

Motorists are reminded not to drive into flooded areas.
