Web exclusive: Willmar superintendent candidate makes Brainerd's final two list

Willmar superintendent candidate Jerry Kjergaard has made the final two list in the Brainerd School District's search for its next superintendent.
Waconia Superintendent Kjergaard and Brainerd Assistant Superintendent Steve Razidlo were named the two finalists Saturday by the Brainerd School Board.
The Brainerd School Board conducted one-hour interviews Saturday with its remaining four finalists - Kjergaard, Razidlo, Brainerd Community Education Director Todd Lyscio and John Longtin, former Mendota Heights superintendent, the Brainerd Dispatch reported Saturday.
The Brainerd School Board is scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday to decide whether to offer its superintendent position to Kjergaard or Razidlo, according to the Dispatch.
Kjergaard is scheduled to be in Willmar Thursday to meet and interview three candidates returning next week for a second interview for the Willmar superintendent position.
The other Willmar candidates are: Mountain Lake Superintendent Bill Strom scheduled Tuesday and Mahnomen Superintendent Jon Kringen scheduled Wednesday.
Kjergaard was also one of three finalists in February for the superintendent position in New Prague School. He was not chosen for that position.
Kringen was one of five finalists in March for the superintendent position in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton School District. He did got get that position.
Willmar hopes to have a new superintendent working in the district by July 1. Superintendent Kathy Leedom will retire July 31 after 14 years with the district.
